Saturntag am Gymnasium in Heilbronn

The project day "Fascinative Saturn" was successfully held at the Robert-Mayer Gymnasium in Heilbronn. Our Cosmic Dust Group supported the local organisers at the school in an operative and financial way. Interesting introduction talks were presented by experts like Cecilia Scorza, Ralf Srama, and Tilmann Denk. The highlight of the day was a navigation game for 5th to 6th grade students (aged 10 -- 12 years). It was conducted by Christian Wolff, an experienced astronomy teacher from Bensheim. He had prepared nine hiding places in the Pfuehlpark and let seven teams find their track according to a map. All students had a lot of fun searching for these "stations" while solving a questionnaire with science facts on Saturn. The winner group received a special trophy of glass as well as tickets to the Planetarium Stuttgart. Most of all, each participant spent a pleasant time enjoying an unusual astronomical outdoor game. The overall participation was lower than expected, however, for the attendees the goal of the project was achieved: These young people were interested for astronomy and they learnt much about Saturn and the Solar System.
